Darkest day for New Zealand: 49 people Killed in terror attack

Terror Attack In New Zealand

New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told a news conference that the mosque shootings appear to have been a well-planned “terrorist attack”. “This is, and will be, one of darkest days,” said Ardern.

The prime minister also said two explosive devices attached to suspect vehicles were found and have been disarmed.

According to the news agencies, the Bangladesh cricket team which was about to enter the mosque to offer prayers, escaped safe but the acute situation led to calling off third Test match between New Zealand and Bangladesh starting Sunday.

Over 49 people were killed after gunmen open fire in on-going Friday prayer at two mosques in Christchurch city. The police have arrested three men and women. One of the gunmen found to be Australian born citizen.

Mass shooting in history of New Zealand is extremely rare. The deadliest occurred in 1990, in Aramoana, when a gunman killed 13 people.
